inappropriate intimacy

We are supposed to consider it a wonderfully positive use of social media, but I'm afraid I find it fairly nauseating. If the writer couldn't be bothered connecting with someone when she was alive, how does that person's tragically premature death change things? Nasty voyeurism, I think - perhaps it's just the same sort of human phenomenon that has passers-by stop to gawk at nasty road smashes or bushfire victims, made more obvious through the evidence of this blog?
